Jennifer Tung, Artistic Director and Conductor, Senior Choir
Currently the vocal department coordinator of the Taylor Academy and vocal coach at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, Jennifer is a versatile artist. As a singer and pianist, she has sung with orchestras, given recitals and master classes and has served on faculty in summer programs across North America, Europe and Asia. An advocate of contemporary music, Jennifer has worked closely with composers Jake Heggie, John Musto, Libby Larsen amongst others.
Jennifer was appointed to the position of Artistic Director with Toronto City Opera in 2018 where she conducted their productions for the past 2 seasons. She was the Music Director for Tapestry Opera’s production of “hook up” and was the assistant conductor for the world premier of the opera Shanawdithit by Dean Burry, a joint production with Tapestry Opera and Opera on the Avalon this past season.
Emily Daquano, Conductor, Training Choir and Junior Choir
Ms. Emily Daquano is a recent MA graduate in Community Music at Wilfrid Laurier University. She completed her Bachelor of Music Education in Voice at Laurier in 2014, and completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto in 2015. Emily is the founder and facilitator of the adult glee club Port Credit Glee in Mississauga, and maintains a private voice, theory and piano studio in her home in Georgetown. She has directed, choreographed and stage managed many children's theatre shows at the Living Arts Centre's Bravo Broadway program. Kimberley-Rose Pefhany Lewis, Conductor, Cantiamo
Ms. Kimberley-Rose started singing and piano lessons at the age of seven. Although her background is mostly in classical music and opera, she has performed musical theatre and choral music. Kimberley has prepared students for RCM exams, Rotary festival competitions and auditions for Cawthra Park and Iona Catholic schools regional arts programs. Kimberley graduated from the prestigious Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory in Toronto with a bachelor in voice performance. Kimberley is an active performer in the GTA having performed with The Mississauga Symphony, Toronto Operetta Theatre, Vera Causa Opera and many more.
Christina Lianos, Conductor, Cantiamo
Ms. Christina Lianos has been teaching Elementary Music with the Toronto District School Board for 10 years. She loves the opportunity of being a choir conductor with the Mississauga Children's Choir where she can utilize her personal and professional experience to inspire children to love the arts.
Carissa Chen, Accompanist, Senior Choir
Ms. Carissa Chen is a recent graduate from the Bachelor of Music program at UofT, specializing in the Music Education stream and majoring in piano. She will be starting her Masters of Teaching degree in the fall of 2019 at OISE with the goal of becoming a high school music and math teacher. She has enjoyed the experiences of working with music ensembles of all ages both at church and in school as well as working with youth in summer camps and after school programs. She is excited to combine these two types of experiences and looks forward to working with MCC this upcoming year.
Katya Khatsko, Accompanist, Training Choir and Junior Choir
Mrs. Katya Khatsko has completed a Master of Music Degree (May 2014) in piano performance at University of Toronto. Born in Belarus, Katya graduated from Minsk Musical College in 2006. In 2008 she continued her studies at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto where she has had master classes with distinguished pianists and pedagogues. She has actively explored and presented chamber repertoire with many instrumentalists and groups. She is currently the Music Director at Dixie Presbyterian Church and a Piano teacher at the Kingsway Conservatory of Music.
Camille Labonte, Conductor's Assistant, Senior Choir
Ms. Camille Labonte is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, and is a graduate of the Etobicoke School of the Arts Musical Theatre program. A former member of the Mississauga Children’s Choir, she is thrilled to be working with MCC. She is an active performer as both a soloist and choral singer, and has sung with numerous ensembles, including the Ontario Youth Choir and the University of Toronto Schola Cantorum. She has Level 8 RCM in both violin and piano, and received an honourable mention for both grades 9 and 10 RCM voice at the Ontario Music Festivals Association Provincial Finals.
Joelle Peresin, Online Theory Instructor
Ms. Joelle Peresin is a grade 12 student at Cawthra Park Secondary School, enrolled in the Regional Arts Vocal Program. She has been studying piano since the age of four, and is currently working on her Level 10 RCM. She was an MCC chorister for five years and most recently worked with Ms. Emily Bird as the Cantiamo Assistant. Joelle is also a private piano teacher at a music school in Oakville. She has been active in Community Theatre, and has appeared in Annie, The Sound of Music and The Little Mermaid.
Caroline Suri, Executive Director
Ms. Caroline Suri has held leadership positions in arts management for over 15 years. Her experience includes being Managing Director of the Toronto Children's Chorus, Executive Director of newchoir (an adult choir), and a senior management position with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. She works extensively on choral and orchestral projects with many organizations including Cineplex, and dozens of well known Canadian artists. Caroline has led ensembles on tours around the world and is thrilled to be leading the Mississauga Children's Choir on tour to Florida next season!
Gerri Peresin, Accounting Manager
Ms. Gerri Peresin has been involved with MCC since 2011, first as a parent of a chorister, then as member of the board and now as the accounting manager. Gerri is a chartered professional accountant and has over 20 years experience working in public and private companies. Currently she provides accounting services to clients in the GTA.
Emily Harris, Choir Coordinator
Ms. Emily Harris is currently in her fourth year at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Music studying Music Education. Inspired by her six years in MCC, she hopes to conduct a children's choir one day and is thrilled to be starting her journey as a Conductor's Assistant. She has her Level 9 RCM in voice and Level 8 RCM in piano and has taught private voice, piano and theory lessons. Emily also has experience arranging choral and instrumental music and working with a choir as part of her recurring summer job at MonstrARTity Creative Community.
