Oksana Vignan, Conductor, Senior Choir and Boys Choir

Ms. Oksana Vignan embarked on her music training at the Ukrainian State College of Music. Upon moving to Canada, she earned her degree in Piano Performance at the University of Windsor and then her Masters degrees in Piano Performance and Choral Conducting at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She was awarded a full scholarship award for the Choral Conducting Degree program at the University of Akron and served as a faculty member and Opera Coach with the university for two years. After completing her formal education, Oksana returned to Canada and has been an active Music Director with two choirs in York region, Men of Note Male Choir and Village Voices. She currently teaches with the Toronto District School Board while residing in Mississauga.  Oksana is a passionate advocate for music education and is dedicated to teaching you children to achieve musical excellence.

Emily Daquano (Young), Conductor, Training Choirs and Junior Choir

Ms. Emily Daquano is a current MA candidate studying Community Music at Wilfrid Laurier University. She completed her Bachelor of Music Education in Voice at Laurier in 2014, and completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto in 2015. Emily is the founder and facilitator of the adult Port Credit Glee in Mississauga, and maintains a private voice, theory and piano studio in her home in Georgetown. She has directed, choreographed and stage managed many children's theatre shows at the Living Arts Centre's Bravo Broadway program. Kimberley Lewis, Conductor, Cantiamo WUC

Ms. Kimberley-Rose started singing and piano lessons at the age of seven. Although her background is mostly in classical music and opera, she has performed musical theatre and choral music. Kimberley has prepared students for RCM exams, Rotary festival competitions and auditions for Cawthra Park and Iona Catholic schools regional arts programs. Kimberley graduated from the prestigious Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory in Toronto with a bachelor in voice performance. Kimberley is an active performer in the GTA having performed with The Mississauga Symphony, Toronto Operetta Theatre, Vera Causa Opera and many more.

Christina Lianos, Conductor, Cantiamo South

Ms. Christina Lianos has been teaching Elementary Music with the Toronto District School Board for 10 years. She is very excited for the opportunity to be a choir conductor with the Mississauga Children's Choir this fall where she can utilize her personal and professional experience to inspire children to love the arts.

Qiao Yi Miao Mu, Accompanist, Senior Choir 

Ms. Qiao Yi Miao Mu received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal, under the tutelage of André Laplante. Ms Miao Mu recently completed her Artist Diploma at the Glenn Gould School under the guidance of John Perry and David Louie. She is a recipient of Productions Musicales Kaléidoscope’s Scholarship in 2014. Ms Miao Mu thrives to make classical music relatable to the larger public through commented recitals.

Michelle Kim, Accompanist, Training Choirs and Junior Choir

Ms. Michelle Kim received Master of Music in Performance, Advanced Certificate for Performance and Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto where she was under the tutelage of Marietta Orlov. She currently performs, runs her own studio, and coaches instrumentalists at art high schools around GTA. As a former pianist and principal flutist of the National Concert Band, Michelle Kim has performed at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and Chan Centre for the Arts in Vancouver. For her solo and ensemble performances, she has performed at the Metro Convention Centre, Toronto Centre for the Arts, Nuit Blanche, and Living Arts Centre. Outside of Canada, Michelle has performed as a soloist in Spain, Austria and in USA. She is an active soloist as well as a collaborative pianist.


Joelle Peresin, Conductor's Assistant, Training Choirs and Junior Choir                                                                             

Ms. Joelle Peresin is a grade 11 student at Cawthra Park Secondary School, enrolled in the Regional Arts Vocal Program. She has been studying piano since the age of four, and is currently working on her Level 10 RCM. She was an MCC chorister for five years and most recently worked with Ms. Emily Bird as the Cantiamo Assistant. Joelle is also a private piano teacher at a music school in Oakville. She has been active in Community Theatre, and has appeared in Annie, The Sound of Music and The Little Mermaid. 

Emily Bird, Conductor, Alumni Choir

Ms. Emily Bird is a soprano and graduate from the University of Western Ontario, with a Bachelor of Music honors specialization in Music Education. In January 2016, she started the Cantiamo program at the Mississauga Children's Choir, and in 2017 started the MCC's second location in Port Credit. She has worked for a variety of children's choirs including Bach Children's Chorus, Toronto Children's Chorus, and the Canadian Children's Opera Company. From 2016-2018, Emily was the soprano soloist/section lead at Royal York Road United Church in Etobicoke, and this past year was the director of their Junior Choir. Also in 2017-2018, she was member of the Schola Cantorum at St. Basil's Catholic Parish, in downtown Toronto. In the summer of 2014, Emily made her operatic debut as Barbarina in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at Accademia Europea Dell'Opera in Lucca, Italy. In the summer of 2016, she participated in the Advanced Oratorio program at the Victoria Conservatory of Music Summer Academy, in Victoria, British Columbia. Emily is a founding member of Cor Unum Ensemble, Toronto's newest baroque ensemble, and served as their General Manager for their 2017-2018 season. Emily currently lives in South Bend, Indiana and is in her first year of the Masters of Sacred Music program, majoring in vocal performance. 

Caroline Suri, Executive Director 

Ms. Caroline Suri has held leadership positions in arts management for over 15 years. Her experience includes being Managing Director of the Toronto Children's Chorus, Executive Director of newchoir (an adult choir), and a senior management position with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. She works extensively on choral and orchestral projects with many organizations including Cineplex, and dozens of well known Canadian artists. Caroline has led ensembles on tours around the world and is thrilled to be leading the Mississauga Children's Choir on tour to NYC this season!

Dianna McGregor, Choir Coordinator                                                                                                                                  

Ms. Dianna McGregor is an MCC alumnus and worked along Emily Bird as the Cantiamo Assistant for a year and a half. She is a graduate of the Early Childhood Education program at Humber College and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. Dianna is now studying at the University of Guelph-Humber in the Early Childhood Studies program.  

Gerri Peresin, Accounting Manager                                         

Ms. Gerri Peresin has been involved with MCC since 2011, first as a parent of a chorister, then as member of the board and now as the accounting manager. Gerri is a chartered professional accountant and has over 20 years experience working in public and private companies. Currently she provides accounting services to clients in Mississauga, Oakville and Etobicoke.
